Going Retro on My Cell Phone

I downgraded my cell phone this morning, replacing my refurbished Palm Treo with my 2008 Samsung flip phone. After spending an average of $115 a month for a well-used 900 minute/250 text plan, I decided it was time to cut the data package and slice $60 off my monthly bill.

"I can't even figure out how to turn the damn Treo off!" I moaned to a friend, citing other complaints, including:
(1) My phone's inability to return emails.
(2) My phone's inconsistent synching, leaving me without email and (gasp) Facebook for hours at a time. Yes, hours.
(3) No extra apps.
(4) No camera phone (It was a 2007 Smartphone).
(5) It did, after all, have a stylus.

I acquired the Treo after upgrading to a Palm Pre this past summer. A month later, my water bottle knocked against it in my purse. The condensation seeped into the battery. No amount of dry rice soaking could save it, and the considerable cost of a new battery still wouldn't ensure optimal functioning. Four months after my vintage replacement refused to synch email yet again, I decided the time to downgrade had arrived.

Now, where's my Day Planner?

I bought an iPhone. After the newness faded, I realized I was paying a big chunk of money every month for nothing. I downgraded to a boring flip phone that doesn't even get multimedia. I'm a lot happier.
